SUBC’s booth at this years E-fest managed to get the team some media attention. The
article – entitled “Engineering careers build strong teams” – contains contains interviews with members from UBC Steel Bridge, Formula UBC, and of course myself.
In other news, the team now has a tentative name for the sub – “Skookumchuck”.
The event was a great success! A special thanks to everyone who helped put on the event, and all the people who showed interest in SUBC and the fields of Engineering and Geoscience as a whole.
SUBC will be attending E-Fest this Saturday (i.e. tomorrow) at the Vancouver Public Library. The event showcases all kinds of great student teams, companies, and organizations relating to the disciplines of Engineering and Geoscience. So if you are interested in learning about Engineering or Geoscience or would just like to see some cool creations, drop on by. The event runs from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Hope to see you there!
So at this point we are nearly one full can of Bondo into the particularly dusty step of fairing the hull. The first half of the hull is coming along quite nicely and the second half – although it still needs some work – should hopefully be following suit as soon as we get a warm(er), dry day.
More good news, SUBC managed to acquire sponsorship from CD-adapco, who have graciously offered to supply the team with several licenses for STAR-CCM+. With this powerful fluid dynamics software the team can now work on designing more efficient control surfaces and propulsion systems.
Finally, we are hoping to have a booth at this years upcoming E-fest at Vancouver Public Library. I will post more information once we have confirmed we will be there.
